This Learning Guide will lead you through a series of activities. These activities may be completed as part of structured classroom activities or you may be required you to work at your own pace.  These activities will ask you to complete associated learning and practice activities in order to gain knowledge and skills you need to achieve the learning outcomes stated earlier.

Power tools and equipment

You may be required to use power tools if you work in a hardware store or a business such as a bicycle or furniture shop where your job involves assembling product. You may also be required to use power equipment such as compactors, dock levelers, carton crushers, meat slicers, or other food preparation equipment. These tools and equipment has the potential to cause serious injury, particularly if they’re poorly maintained or used without due caution.
